The Aarchway Inn in Moab, Utah

Bounce House Aarchway Inn in Moab Utah

We planned our trip to Moab, Utah, in about four days. Crazy, right? But, honestly, that’s how things usually work out for us! We love the excitement of spontaneous trips. The downside being that with such short notice we’re usually stuck with whatever accommodations we’re able to find. You know what they say: The early planner gets the good hotel room. That’s why I was so surprised and happy the Aarchway Inn in Moab Utah, had room for us!

The Aarchway Inn, named for the famous formations in nearby Arches National Park, is one of the best hotels in Moab, Utah. It has an international 3-diamond rating (4-diamond being the best) and great amenities. I’m such a sucker for BOGOs, and the Aarchway Inn really fit the bill as so much more than just a place to sleep in Moab.

Amenities

Unfortunately we woke up to 6″ of continuous snow the first day of our stay, so we couldn’t fully enjoy the splash pad, pirate ship, swimming pool, fire pit, trails, or playground outside. Terrible, right? But seriously the inside amenities were good enough that I’m excited to go back in better weather to see all of the outdoor stuff!

The first thing we did (before even sleeping!) was check the hot tub. Because, snow.

The spa is on the main level of the hotel with a retractable door leading to the outdoor pool and patio. I’m sure it was intended to be easily accessible to the pool during warmer months, but, honestly, it was so perfect to open the door and watch the snow fall as we sat in the hot water. If you haven’t been in a hot tub during a snow storm it needs to be on your to-do list! Now!

We also loved that, since we couldn’t enjoy the playground outside, Aarchway Inn had rented a jump house right in their lobby! Not only that, but they encouraged all ages to enjoy it! This was such a thoughtful winter touch and provided Whit so much fun. Since their business center was fully stocked and super comfortable I ended up doing work downstairs while Whit played in the bounce house. No regrets.

Breakfast

…was amazing. As previously stated, I’m a BOGO fan. The Aarchway Inn free breakfast buffet had so many additions to make their staples even better: spinach, salsa, and cheese to add to scrambled eggs, nuts, and berries to add to oatmeal, tons of beverages, etc. I counted over 50 breakfast items!

We really really like food, and this breakfast was the absolute perfect way to start each hectic day.

Location

rches National Park in Snow Moab Utah

The town of Moab is a pretty small place, compared to the popularity it has around the world as a National Parks destination city. The Aarchway Inn is perfectly located as one of the first things you see when heading into town on Highway 191. It’s only 5 minutes down the highway from the entrance to Arches National Park, and 30 minutes to Canyonlands.

Down the street from the Aarchway Inn is Lion Park, featuring a view of the Colorado River, a walking bridge, and playground, and the access road to Castle Valley.

If you’re more interested in in-town activities just follow Highway 191 to find tons of great restaurants and shops. Trust me. We spent more time in town than I’d expected to due to the snow! On one trip we even stopped at a grocery store after a great dinner out for ice cream to bring back to the hot tub. See, I told you we liked that hot tub!

Rooms

Amenities, food, and location all work to enhance a property, but, let’s get real: the reason you book it in the first place is for a decent night’s sleep. Luckily the Aarchway Inn delivers there, too.

We were thrilled with the size of our Queen Room. Not only were there two queen beds, but there was also room for a sitting area and desk! Since we work while traveling it was so important to have a place to use our computers. Check!  I also loved taking a long, luxurious shower while Ben worked and Whit jumped on the bed. What can I say? I’m a Mom of simple desires.

Winter Things to do in Moab, Utah

We used the Aarchway Inn as our home base to do tons of stuff over our 3-day trip.

Check out our post on taking a guided hike through the red rocks, riding UTV’s in the snow, and visiting Arches National Park after a snow storm.

We also planned to do some mountain biking while we were in town since the area is a biking mecca, but the snow prevented that. Luckily Aarchway Inn provides secure rooms to store bikes and other equipment with 24-hour surveillance!

We’ll definitely go back in the spring to get a more authentic feel of this fun town, and we’ll try biking, hiking, a helicopter ride, and other activities then. Hopefully the Aarchway Inn will have a vacant room for us during the busy season, too!

I absolutely love Moab! It’s so beautiful and unique. I’ve never taken my kids there, though, so this is very helpful!

Love your spontaneity. There is no day like today! Hot tubbing in the snow is quite common around here. Our hot tub is not under cover so I keep an umbrella nearby in case the snow or rain get too heavy. Looking forward to seeing your next visit to this beautiful spot.

Oooh, the hot tub looks glorious! I definitely wish I could make use of that right about now- it’s dropped about 15 degrees since this morning and the chill is one that sets into your bones -_-
It sucks you weren’t able to make use of everything possible but, hey, still seems you had a good time!
